Rainer Beck at Max-Planck says that magnetic field lines are parallel to the galaxy disk near the plane, but turn vertically above and below the disk forming a DOUBLE LAYER BIRKELAND CURRENT. The magnetic fields in spiral galaxies run almost parallel to the spiral arms.

Galaxies are shaped by jets carrying electric currents being twisted by magnetic fields.

Magnetic Fields align flat interacting galaxies without phony dark matter and postulated unseen gravitational black holes. Spinning magnetized plasma bubbles interact between galaxies forming twisted knots of electricity called Birkeland currents. Dust and gas attracts to these filaments in the cosmic web.
