Kip Thorne helped them make the images of the black hole in the Interstellar movie:

The failure of Kip Thorne's black hole movie model is that it does not fit the actual observations of black holes. 

update 11-8-14. These were my own original ideas that everyone else is now using to criticize Kip Thorne's Interstellar black hole animation.

(1) There are no charged particles that form the bipolar jets that carry electric currents.  (2) There are no intense X-ray flares, that are so commonly used to identify a new black hole discovery. X-rays are not caused by black holes, but happens where electrical charged plasma is pinched by intense magnetic fields. (3) Kip Thorne's theoretical light halo has never been observed because there are huge amounts of dust and gas concealing the black hole. In the movie they do not show any significant dust and gas, which clearly fails to make this the "best black hole animation." I've seen better animations of theoretical black holes. Kip Thorne helped design a gravity black hole, but it is all based on phony relativity equations that never predict anything, but only copy and invent new dogma for the Big-bang cosmology. The bending and slowing of light is caused by intensely strong magnetic fields, which in the lab has slowed light to almost a stop. No black hole is necessary, and it's better to do without them. Black holes have never been observed, and are being discovered to be instead the most powerful charged superfluid pulsars in the universe.

The milky way galaxy Sgr A black hole assumption has intense X-rays and gamma rays located near the galaxy center, where plasma is pinched by extremely strong magnetic fields, like in labs. There are galactic jets of charged particles originating from the magnetic poles of the galaxy.

Kip Thorne's best and truthful paper states that magnetic and electric flux can entirely resist the collapse of theoretical gravity. Outer space is over 99.99% charged plasmas that electromagnetic universe models work well in and have good math instead of guesswork gravity equations. Kip Thorne writes about this in his paper:
